Awesome!

Great in a lot of ways. I especially enjoyed the retro art and overall retro feel, this was pulled off superbly. Really tightly implemented too. Is this as3?

SunHpp responds:

yep AS3 rulez! smooth graphics like ever I do like this language! julien

Excellent, Polished

Except for the heavily referenced stuff from the NG staff page, this game rocked hard core.

JohnnySedona responds:

I admire the staff page more than anyone rightfully should. Thanks for the 10, it means a lot to me.

Nice Experiment

I like the direction you're heading. Pretty creative. I felt like I should get bonuses for the height I was able to climb on the platforms so it would have some goal other than avoiding and collecting.

Coolio-Niato responds:

Hehe you and your extra awards :P

I'll try to be even more creative in a sequal, if there is one.

Sweet

What no credit for the awesome coding that let you use that custom font? For shame. :P

Wow

This game was so fun I was actually laughing out loud giddilly from the excitement and the little guy saying "Eat your Veggies!"

I think you did a great job at making this game easy to learn, impressive graphics, and your balancing of difficulty is a great solution to the 6-12 yr old dilemma.

The story was delightfully ridiculous too, I think the kids are gonna love it.

Really superb job!

WarpZone responds:

Thanks. :D

Really Fun

This was a very novel idea and executed very well. The random level combinations give it great replayability, and the mechanics make it something with lots of room to master over time. The music is really good too along with a nice clean menu and enjoyable sound effects. My only criticism is with the main character's graphics, since he's not really animated, I think you could have devoted a bit more time into making him really polished. Overall extremely impressive game!

AndrewMartin responds:

Thanks a lot, i'm glad you like it =]

And i actually thought the same thing about the main character, and tried things like flipping him around based on the direction you're flying in, but it was fairly clear that it wasn't going to work without being properly animated. I'm primarily a programmer, but i am capable of simple animation like that given a bit of time (as you can see on my deviantArt account)... just that in this case i didn't have enough time left =/

Ah well. At least the particle effects mean that there's always something going on =]

Whoa!

This was extremely impressive. You took the Wiggi style to a whole new level! The Art was utterly astonishing, I can tell you put some serious time into this. The game itself was fun too. I'm glad your tutorial was so well done and actually taught me to play. This almost brings a tear to my eye to see a game in the contest executed so well.

Wonchop responds:

Thanks. You wouldn't believe how alienated people were when I showed beta versions of this without the tutorial. XD

Loved it

This is a really great and original concept, I loved the problem solving aspect and mixed with platformer elements really makes it something special. It runs a little slow at times, and the slow energy recharge made me a little stir crazy. The graphics are really complete, though they're probably the only part I could see having a lot of possible improvement on especially the menus. Overall, great job!

Oh, and the contest doesn't end until the 10th so I don't know what that other guy was smokin'

smokinjoeevil responds:

Thanks for the review. Definitely glad you liked it... and I completely understand about the menus. Thinking back on it, I was so concerned about trying to nail the abilities and make some interesting and entertaining level enhancements (like the mushrooms and the goats)... the more directly impactful, creative aspects, that I seem to have skimped on the polish of the menus.

Also, I realized a bit to late that the energy-bar start amount and re-charge were a bit too tight. I made a change to the version uploaded on here that gives the player a bit of a boost with each colected piece of garbage, which should alleviate the issue almost entirely for anyone not trying to explore the entire screen/level. Am I allowed to submit such a change to the FLA back to you?

Awesome!

This is a GREAT submission for the contest. Very nice work. Your graphics mesh well with the premade characters, the levels were well designed and entertaining with a good learning curve. The animation was simple, but suitable. I'm so glad to see a real COMPLETE game being entered in the competition!

Banjax responds:

Wow, thanks very much. Means a lot.

This was awesome

This was awesome...especially the art. You can tell you put some good time into animating the sprites very nicely. Not very often a good artist and a good coder meet up. You've got some serious skills and I'm looking forward to more stuff from you!

mongoid responds:

Thank you! Those are very kind words.

So many times, it happens too fast...you trade your passion for glory. Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past, you must fight just to keep them alive.
