Definitely amazing cut scenes and art direction. This oozes style from every pore. The game play itself was just "ok" but it kept me playing through to the end, something that most other flash games fail at.

I liked the switch up on the game mechanics with the changing lanes during the blaster scene at the end and the separately destroy-able sections on the larger boss ships. I was honestly expecting the whole game to be similar to that idea, where each level presented a new kind of "mini game" rather than just the same engine for each part, ie: some parts point and click, some parts action, some parts puzzle, etc.

You can tell this was poured over in every detail, my only wish is that the actual game itself had that same level of attention, thought, and effort. As it is, it's like the game "Asteroids" had a big budget hollywood production and animation team.

Hans says: Thanks for your review, I'm glad to hear that as okay as the game was, it was indeed playworthy. As far as the minigames things goes. We do intend for each episode in the series to play very differently. We want to explore different types of shooters in each episode, contexually sensitive to the story. Seriously thanks for your review dude. You'll like the prolog to episode two. We are learning a lot from making this game.

Addicting

Let me start by saying that the art was really nice. I loved the look of the machine and the spinning missiles. The ice lasers were sweet and little effects like the missiles poofing into ice dust were nice touches.

The gameplay was addicting, though super frustrating. One life is a pain in the butt, I think making it 3 lives would have made this game have a lot more appeal.

But, that said, you had me coming back again and again (over 3 days) just to see what the next form would be and, on my last play, my heart was thumping and I was so proud to finally defeat that thing and see the world thaw.

I don't think most people will have that same amount of patience though.

I think this game is the best of the game jam, though adding 2 more lives would skyrocket this to something really legit.

I'm real excited to see what you guys do together in the future :-D

Interesting

I beat it shortly after my brain melted. :)

Epos...Epic

I've been meaning to review this now that I beat it. This is another one of Kupaman's games that I went into skeptical, but that overcame me and had me coming back to complete it.

For me, the polish on the art and effects are what did it. This is what Sonny and dozens of other well coded RPGs should have been, but fell short because of presentation. Kupaman nailed it on this one in a BIG way.

I do think it's a bit sillyto call people buffoons for not understanding your choice to use only keyboard input...that's YOUR bad for making the controls un-intuitive, not the user. How hard would it have been to allow both mouse and keyboard inputs? Tons of games allow that, and there's no excuse you can give me for making such a poor game design choice.

Nevertheless, I ended up liking the keyboard input once I got past my initial distaste, but the art is what blew me away and kept me coming back.

Good job guys!

Bigger than expected

That's what she said.

Thanks for the hint, I enjoyed this distraction for 71 minutes!

JonBro responds:

I'm really glad you enjoyed it. Thanks, BoMToons!

Justice!

I replayed it just so I could get a running start and smash into that building even harder.

Style

This had style out the wazoo. The gameplay wasn't too innovative but the art direction inspired me to keep playing...my favorite part was the intro with the history of the universe and earth...that...was...epic :)

69 minutes

This wasted some good time in my day. The level of polish on everything is inspiring. I ran into some tunneling bugs, but nothing show-stopping. The voice overs got a little annoying by the end, but I love games that talk to you while playing.

Overall a true gem of gaming pleasure. Nice job y'alls!

Cool, but one thing

Pretty fun, but I got stuck on the 3rd level, all enemies dead, but no advancement. Also, that level up sequence looks mighty familiar :-P

blar

You wasted so much of my evening with your addicting game >:(

artlogicgames responds:
