Tweenimation

Your stuff all suffers from the same flaw... lack of animation...I think you're afraid to try real animating tactics, ie: redrawing things to infer movement. This could have been really good because you know how to storyboard scenes...but things sliding across the screen do not a good animation make.

I went through the same thing when I first started animating (you can see it in my older stuff), but it's time to take your skills to the next level.

Also, there are some visual glitches like the stage showing through around the edges...it kinda ruins the magic when I see that because it reminds me of the creation process rather than letting me be immersed in the story...it's kind of a rookie mistake.

In addition, the use of audio and character design from the animated series indicates a lack of creativity...you should try coming up with your own designs and use some audio from the audio portal because I think you have the talent to make something really special...I think existing superheroes as subject matter is fine, but try doing your own concept art...don't be afraid to experiment!

I am surprise you don't mention the fact I'm using traditional fbf animation for the bat when flying, in batman's face, in batman's cape when flying, in the tumbler's tires. Maybe you just didn't noticed, and maybe that's a good thing, cuz it means i was very precise in my fbf animation. I really see the tweening option as a wonderful tool that makes animation so precise and even rythmical, and it gives you good control of your objects in the scene. I think is a great option, and I'm not against traditional fbf animation, but I don't see it as the only alternative. Again, I've used a combination of both here. Both, and you don't seem to see it.

Congratulations on taking your skills to the next level. Im sure u are a legend here on Newgrounds, although I never heard about you.

U see stage around the edges? WOW, man I'm surprised you actually tell me that's something that ruins magic and that stuff, cuz if I see something like that, I really don't pay attention cuz Im focusing on the movie. I'm not looking for glitches and errors like a fox searching for food just like you seem to do. I wanna apologiz thought with my fans and viewers for ruining magical moments because of a one-pixel wide line... somewhere... That won't happen again.

Lack of creativity cuz I use character designs from an animated series? Would you please PLEASE tell me what animated series do the Batman and Manbat design from this movie look like? Please tell me, cuz from what I know, the Batmans from the latest animated series are short eared, big faced, and blue and gray. Im using something more like a Chris Nolan Batman, or maybe a very dark comics Batman, and that's because its a tribute, because it's a character thats not mine, and I'm respecting and exploiting the best details from Batman: Darkness, menacing look, bat-like forms, etc etc. All because I consider myself a true Batman fan.

Audio from the portal? Lack of creativity because I dont use other audio than this??? Man you sound like you're just looking for any little thing it occurs to you just to make up a destructive critique. I loooove orchestral music, and I loooooove Batman Begins OST, and it's just what any Batman movie needs, and also, I don't have any money, or any resources to build up an orchestra in a studio and record this kinda music that Batman and any Batman animated movie deserves. Yeah, perhaps I don't have neither the knowledge, or the creativity to compose orchestral soundtrack-like music for a Batman movie, but I think I made a great great choice of music for this movie.

Thankyou very much.

Prove it. :P

I knew it

I watched the movie without looking at who the author was, but by the end I was convinced it was a Jeff Bandelin...I didn't glean this info from the factors your might normally think...it was the v-cam! I knew it by the V-CAM!

yeah you got me pinned

Top-Notch

This was top-notch work and very enjoyable to watch. The amount of control used in the artwork, scene staging, and animation very obviously set the crudeness of the drawing and color scheme apart as intentional choices that lend to the overall meaning.

I was impressed overall with the fluidity of the animation, perspectives employed in the staging, and especially with the overall point of the piece (something on NG with a deeper meaning than just sex and violence...whoa!).

Truly a work of art.

Peda responds:

Thank you VERY, VERY much for the attention paid to how I created the movie- it was always my main concern that I wanted the movie to look good and flow, else interest is lost in the surroundings and character and I get bad reviews. I too agree that it is such a rare thing to not have movies on newgrounds purely running on sex or violence (most noteably ones which suit no other purpose). Other movies I am not all too fond of are obviously bad submissions put on and immediately removed, and submissions with hardly a scratch of originality (usually sprite movies here). thanks for the review!

I like it

If there were some sort of cohesive story or logical progression, that might improve it, but I enjoy the "stream of consciousness" feel you've got going too. My only other suggestion would be to fill more of the picture frame with the morphing sometimes...like maybe some landscapes or larger mechanical objects...seems like you're good at organic stuff like faces, so try branching out into some broader forms to add some variety.

Overall, an awesome concept. Hope yo develop it into something big.

ratchet-ut responds:

I understand what you mean with the storyline or such, but what I going for was a sort of "wtf?..whoa." reaction. If this one does decent, I will work on a much more in depth movie with the same concept. I really didn't want to spend months and months making a huge elaborate fbf movie only to have it be ill-recieved. From what i've seen, people seem to thing it is an interesting concept. I will most likely do more of this in the future. Thanks for the review.

So many times, it happens too fast...you trade your passion for glory. Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past, you must fight just to keep them alive.
