New Painting

Posted by BoMToons - November 5th, 2014

So I mentioned a while back that I learned how to build and stretch my own canvases.

Well I finished my 1st painting on canvas built by me and here it is! [Click to see it in the art portal]

I also updated the Super Chibi Knight alpha test. If you're interested in playing an early build, check out this facebook post: https://www.facebook.com/SuperChibiKnight/posts/593656997405598

I also started a tumblr since that's what all the cool kids are doing:

What have you been up to lately?

Edit 11/6/2014: Hooray my first front-paged piece of art in the art portal!

Great painting man.

Thankyou matthew deathink barto!

Just buy canvases. So much easier :)

No way! Besides being able to custom tailor the size and shape, it's actually cheaper to build them (even accounting for the time invested). I built my most recent one in about 10 minutes, 10 more minutes to stretch the canvas, and 5 minutes to prime.

This is especially true if you want to paint on HUGE canvases.

And then... you're a real lumberjack artist who made his own canvas!

looks like a raw egg.... but a very nice raw egg.... Good job on the DIY canvas

Ha ha, haven't heard that one yet! I guess that would be appropriate considering the whole "embryo" theme.

Cool!

Since you stretch your own canvas, try using denim (as in, jean fabric) sometime. It makes a really nice painting surface. :)

Sounds like a fun idea. My aunt works at a fabric store, I bet I could try all kinds of cool stuff.

Burlap with thick gloopy paint could be cool. :)

heh heh, yeah! Some heavy duty tent canvas with some serious weave might be fun too.
