Greenlight Progress + HOT VIDEO

2013-09-20 12:13:22 by BoMToons

Steam Greenlit another 25 games this week, so the Super Chibi Knight campaign jumped from "60% to the top 100" up to "70% to the top 100" which is a very good thing. If I could somehow get about 5k more "yes" votes, I'd be in a pretty good position to actually catch someone's attention over there.

The game still has quite a way to go until it's done, and I'm considering doing a small Kickstarter campaign some time, so the extra time and press will help, but if you're reading this and have Steam, please take a couple seconds and go click the "YES" button here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=152710075

One of the biggest time consuming tasks for this game is drawing the background art. I feel like I need to make them fairly detailed, but they take a REALLY long time and there are many many bgs...

To help you understand, here's a video of me drawing one, sped up like 400%! Yes, it's super boring, but there's some new gameplay footage at the end as a reward :-D

BoMToons responds:

Stop blogging and finish those backgrounds! D:<

BoMToons responds:

A much needed respite...

I feel the same, blogging about stuff makes it more bearable to do.

Is the false wall in the cave implemented yet? I don't want to waste my life looking for it if it isn't actually there...

BoMToons responds:

Oh it's in there, in the crab pit, on the first screen with spikes... on the right wall...

You missed a spot!

BoMToons responds:

This was going to be your job luis...

It makes me feel really inadequate that you are doing all the programming AND art for your game AND it's progressing really well AND you're posting speedpaints and all that too. I like how you pop in those crossover shadows on the boards; it's the little things!

BoMToons responds:

Ha ha, I've been really struggling with that overwhelmed feeling, I balk at working and procrastinate with other stupid crap. Recording myself working is the only thing I've found that keeps me motivated lately, it's like I HAVE to buckle down and work because someone is watching me. That's my current psychological work around. :-P

I still avoid thinking about how much of the game is left though because I feel like a panic attack is coming on.

Thanks for leaving comments on these posts, it means a lot to me and helps me feel supported :-D

Looking fantastic! Keep going!

BoMToons responds:

Thanks Dave, I appreciate that. I'll do my best to keep on truckin'!

Man I can't even imagine taking on that large a work load. You're a trooper. And I can't wait to play it once it releases.

BoMToons responds:

I will be happy when it's all done too :-)

2013-09-20 22:14:06

Love it :) congrats, i know this will make it.

BoMToons responds:

I'm inspired by your confidence!

Isn't there a Steam forum here? You're not the only developers here who need some love..... pester Tom about it, so he can include your plight (and others) in his next news post. Man, we need more of a userbase :|

BoMToons responds:

You could start one in the forums! :-)

2013-09-21 08:02:01

You're some sort of Godly entity, do you know that?..

BoMToons responds:

I aspire.

2013-09-21 17:00:17

Ah, I'm a Steamless sort, but certainly someone should start a conversation about what NG producers have games in the Greenlight process... aspiration and action are two distinctly different things :)

BoMToons responds:

True true. Are you saying you want ME to start a "NG Users with Steam Greenlight Campaigns" Thread in the BBS?

2013-09-21 17:23:41

Keep up the good work man.

BoMToons responds:

I will try to follow your lead. :-D

Why did the Chibi Knight cross the road!? Don't ask me...It's like I'm a comedian or something
This looks pretty good, how much did it take to make this? btw, I see your daughter in the future as a voice actor!
Good luck!

BoMToons responds:

How much... how much time? money? talent? Lots of time, not much money, not much talent :-P

Thanks broseph!
