Morph Shorts 1

"I like it"

submission: Morph Shorts 1
date: January 29, 2006

If there were some sort of cohesive story or logical progression, that might improve it, but I enjoy the "stream of consciousness" feel you've got going too. My only other suggestion would be to fill more of the picture frame with the morphing sometimes...like maybe some landscapes or larger mechanical objects...seems like you're good at organic stuff like faces, so try branching out into some broader forms to add some variety.

Overall, an awesome concept. Hope yo develop it into something big.

Author's Response:

I understand what you mean with the storyline or such, but what I going for was a sort of "wtf?..whoa." reaction. If this one does decent, I will work on a much more in depth movie with the same concept. I really didn't want to spend months and months making a huge elaborate fbf movie only to have it be ill-recieved. From what i've seen, people seem to thing it is an interesting concept. I will most likely do more of this in the future. Thanks for the review.

Pretty good coding, the graphics and animations could have had some more effort, needs power ups, more levels, more variety in enemies. The time element was a nice touch though.

Nice animation. Todd McFarlane would be proud of those finger contortions.

JAM XM

"Pretty fun"

submission: JAM XM

I love the arcade game this is based on. I just wish this one went a little faster.

BTW, you probably want to embed all the fonts in your dynamic text boxes...I always forget to and get bummed out when I look on a friends comp and times new roman appears instead of the cool font I wanted.

The History of Animation

"Edumacation"

date: January 21, 2006

I liked the concept. Not much educational stuff on NG. I feel like I learned a bit from it.

My only suggestion is to use the "streaming" sound setting in flash. It synchs your audio to your timeline so the audio matches perfectly with what's on the screen. (It will actually skip animation frames to maintain synch).

I could just tell you split up your audio into different segments to try to keep it synched well (I know cuz I did the same thing in my first flash anims). Streaming will even work with your scene selection system.

If you're worried about quality of sound, you can adjust the quality under file>publish settings in flash and up the bitrate till it sounds good.

Overall I liked it...keep up the good work!

One of the best and most finished games ever to be submitted to NG. Kudos on every level. Sound, gameplay, scripting, animation, everything. Front page all the way!

"I recognize that music"

submission: Newgrounds Ragdoll
date: January 20, 2006

That music makes me kind of nostalgic for the days when I was first learning flash using the built in tutorials in flash mx.

I liked how you made the interface match the NG style. Other than that, it didn't blow me away, but overall a pretty funny concept. (I wish the doll were bigger so I could see the different skinds better)

Paints A Thousand Words

"Good start"

date: January 20, 2006

I think you've got some talent to work with (especially if the kitten on the loader was drawn by you). Some of the scenes seemed pretty well thought out, others looked kind of hastily done. Specifically, I liked the shooting star over the city (the reflection detail shows you thought it through a bit), I didn't like the lizard's tongue hitting the fly (seemed like the animation was rushed through).

Overall, I think, if you spend some time on making each scene your best, you could really produce something great.
