BoMToons

Almost here...

Posted by BoMToons Dec. 15, 2007 @ 2:47 PM EST

Coming soon, my first game made especially for the Christmas season, The Nutcracker!

Me on art, Glaiel on programming.

This game is turning out really well, we just put the final touches on the last boss who will rock your world. The game has really varied gameplay but, hopefully, comes across quite seamless in the transitions between each.

Glaiel is programming it in AS3 and I'm using the tablet given to me by Newgrounds for the art. I'm trying to relax on the visuals and just let it flow rather than being super anal retentive ... it's ending up with a kind of loose impressionist feel which I kinda dig.

Did I mention the game is set to a selection of songs from the Nutcracker ballet? Many of the gameplay elements are even timed to the music, it's quite a surreal experience.

All that's really left are the menus and some win/lose screens then it will be released! We're aiming for sometime next week so keep an eye out!

Oh, and don't forget to check out the trailer:

Dec. 15, 2007 | 3:38 PM JonBro says:

After watching the trailer and seeing that screenshot, I am convinced you guys could make a console game. If you and Glaiel made a nice clean game for the Wii, I would so buy it.

Dec. 15, 2007 | 4:33 PM BoMToons responds:

Ha ha, the game is fun, but I wouldn't classify it as console quality. Good to know we have our first buyer though when the time comes.

Heh we finished the boss today. Definately will be done by thursday, depending on hoe much needs to be touched up.

I wrote an awesome story for it. It's the combination of literature being my weakest subject in school, 5 minutes to write it, a love for humor and violence, and of course the original nutcracker story (only a little of it). I can't wait to see what BoMtoons does with it, it's sure to be hilarious.

It involves disembowelment, revenge, feces, and the magic of christmas. Also the FBI.

You guys have a bright future in game making. Keep up the good work and i hope you make it to consoles some day! I find your flash games more entertaining than most of the crap that comes out for the latest consoles anyway.

The trailer looks really nice. A combination of a bunch of popular games. The preview picture looked really unappealing tho.

Ahh how I wish to be capable of making a game like this :'(

Dec. 16, 2007 | 3:29 PM JujubeLock says:

I know this is a bit unrelated, but how do you guys feel about Mitt Romney being a presidential candidate. I figured it might be interesting to get a Mormon perspective on it.

Dec. 16, 2007 | 7:01 PM BoMToons responds:

I personally think he's an ideal candidate, I just wish people would get over the fact that he's Mormon, a candidate's personal religion has NEVER been such a hot point in an election. If you look at what he's done and what he stands for, religion aside, that guy is a really smart, moral, and upstanding dude who would, in my opinion, make a really great president.

Oh, and Glaiel's not Mormon, though he wants to convert...

Dec. 16, 2007 | 3:35 PM Glaiel-Gamer says:

Jujubelock:

I personally am not mormon but I am from massachusetts. I don't like Mitt Romney, he was not a very good governor. They always ignored the western part of massachusetts, and instead focused all out tax dollars on some "Big Dig" which most westerners would never use.

Plus he's republican. I have no idea how massachusetts could have ever elected a republican governor, we're the most democratic state in the country.

Dec. 16, 2007 | 4:50 PM Glaiel-Gamer says:

Lol in my quest to see if getting 0 points is possible, i got 505 points all in the same game.

Good luck anyone else trying that, you'll need it.

Glaiel was right. :-)
